I've only heard (Gasp!) the 1989 versions. But the version on 10/19/89 Jerry just wails on the solo. I missed this show by one day as I was at the more known show the next night with Calfornia Earthquake...zzzzzz...

Sorry William Tell. I know you're not a fan of this era but it's what I grew up on.

Ha! The break out at the shoreline 9/29/89 was freakin' cool. The show aws going along OK, pretty fun. I'm walkin' around the path between the 100's and 200's sections when the music slows down. I stopped walking and looked down at the band and my jaw just dropped!! The whole place went quiet and everyone stopped what they were doing and just listened. The ushers didn't bother ANYBODY or hustle them along. Everyone was allowed to stop and listen. Really memorable.

in this song in particular i will definately argue there is more raw emotion in the 68 versions, the 89 ones are cool to check out.. the two eras are so different.

(heres a scary thought, can you picture Donna singing on this song, it might be the reason why they didnt play it, she would totally ruin the slow dark emotion)

PS if your an anti-donna-basher, suck it up

thanks; will keep that in mind. Hmmm--just realized I don't get your implication on the Donna thing, though...?

No sweat--thanks, man. I had no idea they brought it back. Will keep an ear open. Trust me.

Dunno, friend - haven't dared look. So anyway, I've stuck around a little while longer tonight. Do you honestly think it's made the tiniest difference to the forum's well being?

Well, now that we are engaged in another 'private, thread hijaking' conversation, probably only in a bad way...

Always good to have you on board.

Now, I will shut my pie hole.
